The Castle Eden Brewery has been a constant part of the North East brewing scene since it was founded by John Nimmo in 1826. Located in County Durham, under the Nimmo family, the brewery grew to annual capacity of 75,000 barrels with an estate of 125 pubs. In 2014, the brewery assets were acquired by the present owners and relocated to Seaham.
A light blonde beer with great malty character brought to it by the best pale and wheat malts, Blonde has an up to date hop character from Galena and Chinook US hops with Chinook added late as a dry hop addition providing a clean citrus aroma. At 3.9%, Blonde is a refreshing, full-bodied session pale ale.
A rich full bodied ale that has a distinctive malty sweetness from the pale and crystal malts with a rich creamy head enhanced by torrefied wheat. Styrian and East Goldings give a distinct fruity hop character that is truly moreish.
A ruby red ale with a rich malty character from the combination of pale, light and dark crystal malts with torrefied wheat to ensure a rich creamy head. At 4.4%, it's a full bodied beer with juicy hop character from the generous helpings of Willamette hops.
A silky smooth black Stout, Castle Eden Black has a range of malted barley, flaked oats, muscovado sugar and lactose to give a depth of flavour to this rich strong Stout, which at 4.6% ABV has great balance with generous helpings of Golding and Cascade hops adding to the overall flavour.
